Whenever I have travelled I’ve noticed there are always some essentials I forget. It’s the random things you don’t think about until you are already enjoying your vacation.
And now that we are at home with nothing to do but plan our trips months in advance add these to your packing list:
1. Bug Spray. There are countless times I could have used bug spray to survive the nights filled with mosquitos. If you are travelling somewhere warm (Caribbean, South America, etc.) check to see when their mosquito season is. You don’t want to have a sunburn and mosquito bites. Trust me, it’ll be a bitch to shave your legs.
2. Laundry Detergent. You may think “It’s all good I’ve packed enough clothing that I don’t need to re-wear any item”. And for sure I say the same thing, but I have also had to throw out items after a trip that got stains I was not able to clean right away. You can buy small sheets of laundry detergent to help get rid of those stains. Or bring tide to go. Always good to have on hand to save your precious clothing, because let’s be honest, we only pack the best items of clothing on vacation.
3. Water Shoes. I bought a pair years ago and I always forget about them, yet I always wish I had packed them. They are great for excursions or exploring rocky beaches. Save your feet from the pain.
4. A Deck of Cards. When i’ve travelled in Europe, I’ve always had to commute for an minimum an hour and in the having something to do to pass the time always makes it more enjoyable. There may even be moments when you want to kill time while you wait for your travel partner to get ready – there are a lot of one person card games. If you are staying at a hostel, it is a great ice breaker to help you meet people.
Are you missing travel as much as I am during this quarantine? I want to hear about your favourite travel experience int he comments. Or let me know what you would add to this list.
