3 Benefits of a Staycation

We are so over these lockdowns and travel restrictions! Am I right?

If you live in Canada, specifically Ontario, the carousel we’ve been on of lockdowns, stay-at-home orders and closures just won’t stop rotating. And our souls are screaming for freedom!

Even though travelling outside of Canada seems unreachable with the current restrictions, you are still able to get the benefits of a vacation within Canada.

Travel within Canada is still open. In September I went to Banff and it was stunning. I had never been out west and the scenery is just marvellous. There are no words to describe how amazing it is so I will just leave these pics here…

There are also a lot of local options you can take advantage of through air bnb, cottage rentals, Niagara Falls (wine tours anyone?), and resorts (Hockley Valley Resort, Blue Mountain, etc).

Regardless of where you end up going, it is going to help you “get back to normal”.

Here are 3 benefits of a staycation.

  1. Breaks up your routine. I’m not going to deny that I would go 3-4 days without leaving my condo. The routine of not being able to go out was engrained into my habit that I would completely forget to leave the house. Booking getaways, even if they were local, allowed me to change up the routine I had unconsciously created for myself.

  2. Reenergizes you and helps decrease stress. No one wants to experience burnout, but if you work in the same place you live and this is not a norm for you, chances are you are going to be putting in more hours of work. How could you not when your computer is just staring at you and you have nothing else to do? Getting away from your surroundings will help reenergize you and let the creativity flow.

  3. Helps build stronger relationships. The obvious one here is that if you travel with someone you are going to have a stronger relationship with them. The not so obvious one, is that it will help you build stronger relationships with other people in your life who are not on vacation with you. How? You are now reenergize and have your creativity coming back. Which means you can think clearer and can reconnect with people you probably haven’t spoken to while being in your new day-to-day routine.
