What it’s like to start a business
If you’ve been thinking about starting a business, congratulations! It is not an easy decision.
I want to share with you my journey of entrepreneurship, filled with twists, turns, and invaluable lessons. As you lay the foundation for your venture, it's crucial to understand that every path is unique, and comparison only serves to diminish the significance of your journey.
When I ventured into the realm of entrepreneurship, I was focused on creating a life of abundance and freedom. The conventional nine-to-five grind felt suffocating, and I wanted control over my time and finances.
My first business was flipping furniture. What started as a casual hobby soon evolved into a small-scale business venture. I like to say I fell into it because I did not see it as a business or set it up with structure and foresight. While the endeavour taught me valuable lessons in resourcefulness and creativity, it ultimately served as a stepping stone towards more aligned pursuits.
From there, I delved into the realm of network marketing with the company Stella & Dots. However, the cookie-cutter approach to sales promotion left me wasn’t my vibe. I did not like cold messaging my network of friends and family to buy what I had to offer. I realized that authenticity and genuine connection were paramount in my entrepreneurial journey.
From here I started my business Dreaming Big Lifestyle. Fuelled by a passion for travel and a desire to empower others, I found my true calling as a business coach. This led me to create a platform dedicated to helping individuals realize their entrepreneurial dreams while maintaining a life of freedom and fulfillment.
As I navigated the complexities of entrepreneurship, I encountered both wins and setbacks. The absence of a concrete plan often led to logistical challenges, while an overly rigid approach stifled creativity and growth. Moreover, the vulnerability inherent in selling one's services demanded resilience and persistence, qualities I cultivated through experience, by showing up consistently.
The evolution of Dream Big Lifestyle—from a mere concept to a thriving business—stands as a testament to the transformative power of perseverance and passion.
As you embark on your entrepreneurial journey, I urge you to embrace the uncertainty and embrace the process. Success rarely follows a linear path, and setbacks are merely opportunities for growth and learning. Remember, every experience—whether triumph or tribulation—contributes to the tapestry of your entrepreneurial journey.
In closing, I invite you to dream boldly, embrace the unknown, and trust in your ability to manifest your vision.
